Late Veteran Nollywood Actor Zulu Adigwe's Life Recapped

...

Zulu Adigwe, a veteran actor from Nollywood, has died. The announcement was made on Tuesday by movie producer Stanley Nwoko on his Instagram page. Adigwe was recognized for his roles in films such as "Living in Bondage" and "Basi & Company".

Zulu Adigwe was a Nigerian actor and singer best known for his paternal roles in Nollywood productions. He rose to prominence as Mr. B in the sitcom Basi and Company, and most recently starred in the 2019 blockbuster Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.

Adigwe was born in Enugu and received his primary and secondary education in Austria. He studied French and German, worked as a teacher, and briefly studied medicine before returning to Nigeria following the death of his father. He attended the University of Ibadan, where he studied Theatre Arts and graduated with First Class Honours. Adigwe's interest in acting began at the age of seven, and his first appearance on Nigerian television was in Basi and Company, where he played the lead character, Mr. B.

He also sang the new theme song for Basi and Company, and an album titled Mr. B Makes His Millions, released in 1990 by Polygram Nigeria, accompanied the series. Adigwe's first movie was Blood of the Orphan, which earned him acclamation and recognition. In 2019, he starred as Pascal Nworie in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.

Zulu Adigwe's death has had an impact on the Nollywood industry because it is the most recent in a string of losses, with six actors passing away in the first four months and a half of 2024.

His death comes just two weeks after Junior Pope and three other Nollywood actors were killed in a boat accident on the Anam River, and he was best known for his paternal roles in Nollywood films, where he primarily portrayed fatherly characters.
