Disgraced According to reports, paralympian Oscar Pistorius has been refused parole in South Africa and will stay in prison for the murder of his then-partner Reeva Steenkamp.

After shooting and k!illing Steenkamp on Valentine's Day in 2013, the 36-year-old South African former sprinter was convicted of murder after first being charged with culpable homicide.

Pistorius had spent half of his 13-year jail term and was eligible for parole, but the board refused the Olympian's plea to be freed.

According to rumours, the guy dubbed "Blade Runner" would not be approved for release until August 2024.

Pistorius failed to fulfil the Supreme Court of Appeals' minimum Detention Time criteria and must now ask for parole in the future.

The board decided on Pistorius' parole judgement after considering his participation in training courses while incarcerated, as well as his mental and physical state, as well as his behaviour and his disciplinary record in jail.

"In simple English, half the sentence is left to be served," stated prison spokeswoman Singabakoho Nxumalo.

Pistorius was convicted of culpable murder for Steenkamp's death in 2014 and sentenced to five years in jail.

Nevertheless, the South African Supreme Court eventually reversed Pistorius' murder conviction and sentenced him to six years in jail.

After saying an intruder was lurking in the toilet, the former sprinter shot and murdered Steenkamp, then 29, with a 9mm handgun through his bathroom door at his Pretoria home.

June Steenkamp, Steenkamp's mother, spoke before the parole board at Pistorius' hearing, saying the Paralympian was "not remorseful or rehabilitated."
