The Obi-Datti presidential campaign has begun the public accounting process for funds raised in the 2023 general election. The accounting effort is part of the campaign's commitment to transparency and the responsible use of donations.

Peter Obi announced yesterday that the public accounting process would begin with crowdfunding contributions overseen by activist Aisha Yesufu. He stated that the campaign would account for all cash and in-kind contributions to ensure that donors' contributions were used for the intended purpose of the election campaign.

Obi also urged various support groups and organizations that helped the campaign to follow suit by providing accounting to their own supporters. Full accounting and transparency of donations have been pillars of the Obi-Datti grassroots campaign.

According to Obi, the campaign will embark on a national "Thank You" tour in Q1 2024 to physically express gratitude to supporters throughout Nigeria. He emphasized that, despite having only 20% of the budget of other major parties, the campaign's judicious and disciplined financial management enabled it to achieve significant visibility and influence.

While the Obi-Datti ticket was not declared winner of the election, which was allegedly marred by massive irregularities, Obi acknowledged that donors' generous support and dedication to the democratic process played a critical role in shaping Nigeria's political future. He claimed that their efforts had an irreversible impact, as the dream of a New Nigeria has become the overwhelming desire of the majority of citizens.

Obi reiterated that his candidacy represented the dream of national rebirth and transformation, which cannot die and must be continued. The upcoming accounting and tour are part of fulfilling promises of transparency and gratitude to millions of dedicated citizens who donated their time, effort, and resources.
