AFCON Drug Test Results for Three Super Eagles Stars Revealed
Nigeria received good news ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal match against Angola when drug tests on three key players came back negative.
Striker Victor Osimhen, forward Ademola Lookman, and captain William Troost-Ekong were all put to the test following Nigeria's Round of 16 victory over Cameroon. Lookman scored twice in the Super Eagles' 2-0 win, propelling them to the final eight.
Osimhen, Lookman, and Troost-Ekong are all cleared to play in Friday's crucial AFCON match against Angola. Lookman has been in spectacular form, and Osimhen and Troost-Ekong have both scored in the tournament.
The negative tests will relieve manager Jose Peseiro as Nigeria seeks its fourth AFCON title. The squad has gained momentum after defeating Cameroon, and Osimhen and Lookman's partnership up front could propel them even further.
With no positive tests, Nigeria's roster is fully loaded for the match against Angola. A quarterfinal victory would secure the Eagles a spot in the semifinals. Peseiro will be relieved to have his stars prepared for the challenge.
