Doctors have cleared Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to play in Nigeria's African Cup of Nations semifinal against South Africa on Wednesday.
Osimhen was left behind on the team's trip to Bouake due to an abdominal issue, raising concerns about his availability. However, sources have confirmed to local media that the Napoli star is fit to play after medical checks in Abidjan.
The 24-year-old has traveled to join his Nigeria teammates as they prepare for the crucial last-four match against Bafana Bafana.
Osimhen has one goal in five matches at the 2023 AFCON tournament. However, his speed and aerial threat up front are critical components of Nigeria's attack.
After initial concerns that he would miss out, Osimhen's clearance to play will be a major boost to manager Jose Peseiro. The Super Eagles will be at full strength in their attempt to advance to Sunday's final against hosts Cote d'Ivoire or debutants Comoros.
Nigeria is aiming for a fourth AFCON title, the first since 2013. With Osimhen leading the line, their chances of winning the trophy again appear to be good.
