Joke Silva, a veteran Nollywood actress, has opened up about her husband, acclaimed actor Olu Jacobs, who is in declining health. Silva revealed in an interview with Nancy Isime that Jacobs' dementia has had a significant impact on his life.  

Silva admitted that the man she married 37 years ago is "80 percent" no longer present, as dementia has taken away much of his former self. She had previously described Jacobs as a "incredible father" and "amazing husband" who was practically her "best friend."

Silva emphasized that she continues to love her husband, despite the difficulties of his condition. Her love, however, has changed alongside Jacobs' deterioration. 

"The husband I knew is no longer there for me. This man that is here is someone I still love, but love in a different way," Silva stated.

Silva's candid remarks shed light on the profound personal impact that dementia has on family members. As Jacobs' health deteriorates, his wife must adjust to losing the partner she once knew while caring for the shell of a man who remains.

However, Silva's continued affection demonstrates the strength of human love in the face of such a pernicious illness. Her decades-long relationship with Olu Jacobs survives, albeit transformed and tested.
