Mojisola Awesu Murder Investigation: How Phone Was Found with Pastor, Father

Ilorin, Kwara State – The Kwara State Police Command has made significant strides in the investigation of the tragic murder of Mojisola Awesu, a graduate of the Kwara State College of Health Technology.

Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya announced that seven suspects, including the prime suspect Adebayo Happiness and his parents, have been apprehended. The investigation revealed that Mojisola's iPhone and SIM card were found in the possession of the suspect's parents, Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi and Mrs. Bukola Adeniyi.

Details of the Incident

Mojisola, 21, was invited to Ilorin by Adebayo Happiness, a dismissed student of Summit University, Offa, under the pretense of acting as his girlfriend at a party for a fee of N15,000. She was allegedly murdered in a hotel on August 9, 2024.

During a press briefing at the police headquarters in Ilorin, Commissioner Olaiya stated, "Those arrested include the prime suspect, Adebayo Happiness, his parents, Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi and Mrs. Bukola Adeniyi, Miss Kolawola Timileyin who linked the deceased with the prime suspect, as well as three hotel workers where she was lodged and gruesomely killed."

Arrests and Evidence

The hotel workers arrested are Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Amina, and Bulus Peter. According to the police, after committing the murder, the suspect returned to Offa and concealed the stolen phone in his hostel wardrobe. Through careful investigation, the suspect's parents were apprehended.

"Following their son's arrest, they attempted to tamper with evidence by retrieving Adebayo Joshua Happiness' belongings from his school. It was discovered that Mrs. Adeniyi Bukola had removed the SIM card from the deceased's iPhone and concealed it within a wall some distance from their residence," Olaiya explained.

Contrary to the suspect's initial claim that he had discarded the phone into the Afelele River, both the iPhone and SIM card were recovered from his parents' possession.

Further Investigation

Further investigation revealed that the hotel staff on duty found Mojisola's body in the room and unlawfully disposed of it at a refuse dump. Commissioner Olaiya assured the public that the suspects would be duly charged to court to face the full extent of the law.

"We assure the public that the Kwara State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice and maintaining peace and security within the community. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses," Olaiya concluded.
